I’m increasingly becoming more interested into architectural photography. However, I’m less interested in the clean, flawless photos, and more about learning new, unique techniques and abstracting the images, similar to my approach with architectural illustrations. A technique I have posted about a couple of times now is HDR (high dynamic range) photography. I’m quickly realizing that HDR is easy to pick up, but very difficult to master. Some of the best images that I have created were not one step, linear processes. Instead, they involved lots of trial and error, sometimes using the initial generated HDR image as an overlay or filter along with the original. A couple of times now, I have gone back to past photographs thinking I could post process them better a second time around. These next few images are examples of just that. Some of the original images were blurry or pixelated, but that doesn’t bother me right now. Better cameras and tripods will come later haha.
It seems to look like HDR works perfect for black and white imagery, its a bit harder for colored ones.
But you made these the same way as the previous post, 1 picture > 3 different exposures in photoshop > combine with Photomatix ?
The black and white was initially color. All of the hdr work was in color. At the end, I desaturated in Photoshop just because I though it look better.
Your correct in that I did create all three images from one picture. I didn't bracket the shots using a camera. I took the image and manipulated the exposures in PS like you said to get the HDR look. The method works better the more color information the image has. RAW images work great, jpegs not so much.
